About

Welcome,

I’m Lisa Peterson, the creator behind Sensory & Sewing in the Hills.

I live in the beautiful town of Macclesfield, Victoria, surrounded by rolling hills, with my wonderful husband Jarryd and our three beautiful children, Zak, Haydn, and Lilly.

My journey with sewing began back in high school during textiles class, where I made my first project—a pair of matching pajama pants for a school camp. With guidance from my talented mother, Wendy, I developed my sewing skills learning to  sew quilts, cushions and for myself and my family.

In 2019, I transformed my passion for sewing into a business, launching Lisa Loves Sewing. What started as creating basic quilts and toy animals soon grew into something much more meaningful. I began designing weighted blankets, lap pads, sensory toys, and sentimental quilts made from cherished clothing, such as concert t-shirts or garments from loved ones who had passed away.

These creations brought comfort and joy to so many, and it was through this work that I discovered my true purpose: using my sewing skills to craft high-quality, meaningful products that make a real difference in people’s lives.

After a big house move in 2022, my sewing machines were packed away, and my sewing business was put on hold. But now, in 2025, my amazing husband has built me a new sewing space, and I’m thrilled to relaunch as Sensory & Sewing in the Hills. My main focus remains on creating high-quality sensory and weighted products designed to bring comfort and calm to children and adults with anxiety or sensory needs.

I’m so excited to be back doing what I love—creating beautiful, meaningful items that help people feel supported and cared for.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me!

Love Lisa xx
